Hello everybody! We have just ended our first PO launch with all the new designs. Glad to see some of my old customers supporting me again. Thank you! *bows* Hahaha!

The Moon, the cat and the haters

Dark Moon

We're all like the Bright Moon, we still have our Darker Side. Mesmerized by the Moon's beauty everytime I look up the sky, it always seems to tell me how alike we are. Some people may be shining brightly but ultimately, they are still human and do possess a darker side, which you have not been exposed to. Do practice caution when you know somebody new. Not everybody is as good as they seems to be.

Nobody is Perfect

Scarred, flawed and unloved. But it's okay! Nobody is Perfect. You're unique in your own ways. Offer your genuinity to those who deserved it. One day, you'll find somebody as flawed but you are not mindful of that at all. Wait patiently for our own fairytale to show!

Haters

Haters gonna hate. You can't please everyone. Just be yourself. Eventually, the genuinity is gonna win you popularity. Haters hate because you are above them. Let them be! Continue to watch the clown show, from above.

Page 5: The long waited creation
After the really long wait, we are finally going to sell something new instead of the same old 4 designs on our website. HAHA. It wasn't easy enduring this long. Months of designing, editing and standing by the window to visualize the improvement. Let's see the new designs!

We have dark sides but it's okay, nobody is perfect

I like all of them but favoritism is shown towards the first 2 designs on the top row. Dark side and Nobody is Perfect. I'll explain the design in detail next time. However, isn't it cute?! Especially Nobody is perfect!

I launched the first collection during December'14. Since then, I have been designing almost everyday but of course, not all designs are appealing enough to make it on the selling list. Hahaha. Like I said on my instagram post, better t-shirt, better ink, better quality of design and better business plan.

Stay tuned to this small space of ours for the launch date!

Page 4: The yesteryear amateur with never ending inspirations
I was partially motivated by the monetary reward I could get from Threadless to start designing t-shirts. I'm not exactly sure how much is it now but it used to be a few thousand if your design was picked for printing. How tempting right!

I did not get any of those money though. Was too lousy to win anything. HAHA. Let me share some of my old and childish designs.

Those were the days when I was so obsessed with monsters and some weird beings. Not that the design is not good. But it was just not meant for adults. Perhaps I should start a children clothing line. LOLOL.

I <3 Black Cat

And yes, I love black cat! They are so cute! Don't you think so? The one next to it was some halloween theme lollipop, in human flavour? =O!

Page 3: Finding inspiration among the negativity thoughts
negativity
noun

the expression of criticism of or pessimism about something.

Well, I do agree that negativity thoughts are bad but not all negativity thoughts are bad. At least, to me. I welcome them with open arms, sprinting towards them, hugging them like a chancing a long lost friend. Okay, that's crazy. Hahaha.

Finding inspiration among the negativity thoughts

I was trying to portray a picture of the thoughts of each and every individual. Hiding a devil inside the mind and hiding the fact of how we yearn for somebody to understand us, understand what we're thinking, understand what we're going through. It's impossible for anybody to understand that.

I'm not sure if it's normal but I would drown myself in a bottomless pool of negativity before I start designing. Perhaps it's just my designing style.

Do you really know me?

This piece below somehow has some link with the one on top. The devil in this instance, is the black cat, waiting patiently behind the gate to be unleashed. It's really, really dark. Scary inspiration!

Page 2: Love the colors but can't seem to fully understand them
So... I discovered Adobe Photoshop to be really good tool for designing with the different paintbrushes and all. It was really fun discovering different tools by yourself and testing each of them to see how it works. Looking back at what I designed, it was a total disaster. I had a hell lot of different fonts and different patterns of paintbrushes. Next, it was about how to combine them together.

Beauty lies in the 'eye' of the beholder.

This was one of my earliest work, probably my first 'decent' one back then. People who are close to me would realize that I have many designs that have an eye somewhere in there. This was the first 'eye' design. I did not know about any illuminati thingy back then. Even for my recent design, I swear I did not do a replica of the illuminati logo or design. It was the inspiration that I had in mind.

Why are most of my design black and white?
The simplest answer ever. I'm colorblind.
-

The unfathomable swatch of colors...

Yup. It's a torture not able to recognize colors. But it's okay! I can design other things, like rainbow! Like the one below. A little childishness never hurts. To me, artists are madmen with crayons and colorpencils. The same goes to graphic artists. Who the hell would eat rainbows? That's where creativity comes in.

Page 1: The first step of a very long dream
This is the very first post in the name of my label, Mono Trend. Like the title says, the first step of a very long route, I thought of the name Mono Trend way back in 2009. It used to be called Mono Fashion. Sounds like some feminine store under 'This Fashion' HAHA. Perhaps due to that sole reason, I began to think of other names.

Mono Fashion, where black meets white

That was something I designed back then when I was really obsessed with the name. Mono Fashion. You can be fashionable with only 2 colors. Why not?

What prompt me to start designing was the beauty of typography when I learn basic image editing using Adobe Fireworks in class. It was a really basic class of just cropping images and adding simple caption but I really like the class so much. That was the first page of my graphic design route. As time goes by, I realized Adobe Fireworks couldn't provide me with the tools that I need so I went to look for better software. And I found it! Adobe Photoshop! While other people of similar age are busy playing games, I was busy playing my Adobe Photoshop. LOL.

I will post something every week while preparing for my second collection.

My name is Zell, founder of Mono Trend, a brand that will be famous in the future.
